Coatings

Meeting the challenges of this wide range application space, we offer an assortment of bulk and surface sensitive techniques supplying information on the micron and nanometer scales.

Coatings cover a broad range of applications from a nano-coating acting as a bio-fouling barrier on the hull of a ship, to a micron scale steel conversion coating offering long term corrosion resistance.

In each application, the understanding of the effectiveness of the coatings performance requires a detailed examination of coating and substrate chemistry. The failure analysis of existing coating technologies and the development of new coatings methods requires a range of materials characterization techniques.

To meet the challenges of this application space, the coatings engineer requires a complete tool set of bulk and surface sensitive techniques which can supply elemental, chemical and molecular information on the micron and nanometer scales.
