Customer Webinar: The Use of the Exactive Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer in Food Safety Analysis

Dr. Hans Mol, Senior Researcher, RIKILT - Institute of Food Safety, presents the use of the Thermo Scientific* Exactive* high performance benchtop LC-MS for chemical screening, identification, and confirmation in food safety analyses. Using his significant experience in the study of food safety, Dr. Mol describes the emerging use of full scan, high resolution mass spectrometry to perform non-targeted analyses for the screening and determination of multiple analytes in a variety of food matrices.

RIKILT is an independent scientific organization that is part of Wageningen University and is focused on the safety and quality of food and animal feed. RIKILT, which draws on more than a century of experience, is involved in a diverse range of activities. Research is performed related to the detection, identification, functionality and effects of substances in food and feed. Risk-benefit assessments also are a subject of study. RIKILT supports several Dutch governmental authorities with analysis of food and feed products, early warning, advice and training. In addition, RIKILT works for the European Union, international governments, nongovernmental organizations, and private businesses. RIKILT is currently a National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for a variety of analytical domains, ensuring the quality and reliability of the official laboratories in the Netherlands.
