Case Studies

Application Description

Flavoring dispensing

Ice cream vending machines utilize micro peristaltic pumps to deliver precise quantities of flavoring and cream base to a fast freeze platen that delivers "hard" ice cream from a vending machine.

Ink pumps

Flexographic and gravure printing presses rely on customized peristaltic pumps to deliver inks to the press fountains and doctor blade assemblies. The low shear pumping ability, self-priming capability and ease of tubing replacement makes peristaltic pump technology ideal for this environment.

Point-of-sales popcorn flavoring

Do you ever go to the movie theater? Your buttered popcorn flavoring is probably dispensed by a peristaltic pump. These high temperature fluids are shear sensitive and iur OEM peristaltic pumps provide the gentle action needed to deliver them hot and to the point-of-sale.

Electrical cable labeling

A cable manufacturer uses multicolored inks to identify different types of cables. Peristaltic pumps easily handle the abrasive ink mixture while providing an accurate flow control to help maintain optimal cost control of an expensive component in their process.

Glue adhesive pumps

Viscous and hot adhesives can easily be handled by peristaltic pumps without special high temperature designs.

Surgical irrigation pumps

Maintaining tissue integrity during surgery is critical to a faster recovery and reduces the chance for infection. Medical grade peristaltic pumps provide a gentle natural flow rhythm to irrigate tissue and improve surgical site cleanliness.

Stem cell therapies

Stem cell therapies are moving into the mainstream of medical treatment. These extremely sensitive cell cultures and therapies utilize the gentle peristaltic pump action and accurate flow rates to optimize the growth and dispense of these advanced technology cures.

Surgical medical device cooling pumps

Treating cancers, such as liver or kidney, is often done with ablation devices. These device need to be cooled while in operation. Peristaltic pump technology delivers the high pressure flow required to cool the ablation tips preventing overheating and tissue burning when cooling fails or is not present.

Filtration pumps

Tangential and cross flow filtration (up to 100 PSIG) requires a constant flow velocity across the filter to prevent pre-mature filter clogging. New tubing technology now extends the filter processing life because higher pressures can be achieved allowing greater amounts of fluid to process through one filter.

Tablet coating

The abrasive material provides specialized coating to medicines that allow the time-release properties and prevent over-dosing of drugs by allowing it to slowly dissolve. Custom peristaltic pumps are naturally abrasive resistant and can easily handle these fluids while providing accurate dosing rates to consistently coat each tablet.

Liposuction

Pump that fat out? Yes, medical grade peristaltic pumps are used in liposuction therapy to pump out the fat.

Therapy dispenser for drugs of abuse treatment

Custom OEM peristaltic pumps are used to provide individualized treatment programs to drug abuse victims. The peristaltic pump technology provides sanitary and contamination free treatments to each individuals customized treatment program.

Agriculture seed coating and chemical treatment

Costly and shear sensitive seed coating treatment chemicals are best handled through the low shear properties of the OEM peristaltic pump design. The easily replaced tubing allows fast change over at the end of the season, while being robust enough to last an entire planting season.

Peripheral Arterial Disease treatment

New treatments for PAD used as a last resort to prevent limb amputation require a high pressure peristaltic pump to drive a spinning blade and a secondary pump to vacuum out the waste plaque. Our custom OEM team developed a complete new design that exceeded the design requirements in less than six weeks after initial contact with the customer.

Flow Performance

From volumes less than a teardrop to flow rates more than a fire hose, Thermo Scientific can provide a custom pump solution for your specific fluid transfer needs.

Flow rates: Less than 10 μL/min to more than 400 LPM
