Pascal 140 Porosimeter

Thermo Scientific* Pascal 140 is a fully automated low-pressure mercury porosimeter and sample preparation unit. It works from vacuum up to 400 kPa pressure providing fast and reliable porosity characterization from 3.8++ up to 900++ pore dimension.
The high level of automation of Pascal 140 simplifies the operator's work and assures a very high reproducibility of results. The unmatched analysis speed combined with accuracy and ease of use, make this instrument ideal for any analytical purpose both for quality control and research applications. Industrial sectors like cements, catalysts, ceramics, fertilizers, filters, porous glass, paper, pharmaceuticals and polymers (to mention the most important) will benefit of the reliability of the Pascal 140.
Alert: The Pascal 140 uses mercury as intrusion liquid. Mercury is not supplied by Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Pascal 140 has a dual role: it prepares the sample and the sample holder prior the analysis (degassing under vacuum and mercury filling) and carries out low-pressure porosimetry measurements. Its modular concept allows to use it as stand alone or together with the other high pressure porosimeters of the series. Modularity of the Pascal system features a “buy what you need” approach as the data from the low pressure porosimetry can be then combined with the high pressure ones to get a complete porosity spectrum of the material.

  • P.A.S.C.A.L. method of pressurization (Pressurization by Automatic Speedup and Continuous Adjustment Logic) combines the stepwise and intrusion rate equilibrated modes
  • Proprietary algorithm cuts off dead times during the analysis improving the experiments throughput (saves run time compared to other methods)
  • Can work also in continuous scanning mode
  • Extreme high resolution curves with up to 2500 experimental points in each pressure range (up to 4000 points for a complete porosity spectrum) showing a volume resolution of 0.1μL
  • Pascal porosimeters are modular, choice of pressure ranges up to 0.4, 200 and 400MPa (or a combination of them)
  • Pascal porosimeters modules are bench top, with unmatched small footprint
  • Pascal porosimeters come with comprehensive online control software featuring real time display of intruded volume and/or pressure in function of time
