ChromoSphere-T Certified Size Standards

The Thermo Scientific* ChromoSphere-T Certified Size Standards are colored polymer microspheres with NIST traceable diameters for reference or calibration where high visual contrast is desired.
The Thermo Scientific ChromoSphere-T Certified Size Standards are reference and calibration materials used in the testing of filtration systems, vial cleaning evaluations, contamination control studies and calibration of injection devices. ChromoSphere-T Size Standards were developed for use as reference or calibration materials in applications where a high visual contrast is desired. The product line consists of a large assortment of uniform particle sizes between 50 and 500 microns in either red or black color.

  • Internally dyed with deeply colored red or black dyes, resulting in very high contrast and visibility relative to most background materials
  • The mean diameters of ChromoSphere-T Certified Size Standards are traceable to the standard meter through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
  • Calibrated by optical microscopy
  • Microspheres are made from cross-linked polystyrene divinylbenzene (PS-DVB) copolymer
  • Available as dry powders
  • Can easily be dispersed in aqueous media if desired with the aid of a small amount of surfactant or in lower alcohols, such as methanol or ethanol
  • Some dye extraction will result when particles are suspended in pure alcohols, but will be minimal
  • Other organic solvents, such as ethers or chlorinated hydrocarbons, should be avoided because they will swell the particles and completely extract the dye

Storage Conditions: Store at room temperature

Certifications: NIST traceable diameters

Recommended for: Reference and calibration materials used in the testing of filtration systems, vial cleaning evaluations, contamination control studies and calibration of injection devices.
