Pharma 24 HME Hot Melt Extruder

The Thermo Scientific* Pharma 24 HME hot melt twin-screw extruder is ideal for small-scale continuous processing in research, development or production in the pharmaceutical industry.
Small scale melt extrusion allows rapid process development with minimal use of expensive ingredients for defining critical process parameters. Our Pharma 24 HME enables reduced clean room area, consistent and controllable processing, reduced product changeover time, on-demand production, minimized scale-up risk and reliable cleaning. Environmental Note: Continuous processing has lower utilities use than traditional batch processes. A small footprint reduced clean room volumes and lower ingredient consumption reduces handling and operator exposure.

Self contained units can be operated with recirculating chillers for reduced water consumption.


Required Accessories: We offer a full range of GMP standard ancillaries which are matched to the extruder performance, and can be integrated into the extruder control system. These include volumetric or gravimetric dosing feeders, air cooled conveyors for product cooling, strand and face-cut pelletisers to make pellets, or chill roll/flaker units for rapid product cooling and flaking.

Compatible with: Application of PAT using Thermo instruments like FT NIR can give assurance of product quality, by measuring composition and moisture content.
