Thermo Scientific EGIS III, based on our proprietary EGIS technology, has become the standard in Europe and in high-security-risk countries. The sensitivity advantage of the Thermo Scientific EGIS III allows for detection of low vapor pressure explosive compounds, such as plastics (RDX, PETN, C4, Demex, and SEMTEX), with an air sampler - providing an even greater probability of detection. Due to the EGIS III's commanding sensitivity advantage, it is the only ETD that is certified by the Police Scientific Development Branch (PSDB) in the UK, approved by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), and the sole-source provider to the German government for aviation security.

Since EGIS systems use clean helium or hydrogen carrier gas for operation, environmental factors such as humidity, daily temperature and barometric pressure changes, altitude, and pollution do not affect operation unlike other systems. The carrier gas system within the EGIS provides a controlled operating environment that keeps the system clean, allows for fast clear-down after detecting large amounts of explosives, and keeps environmental air out of the sample matrix - helping to further reduce false positives.

Every day, airports around the world depend on the Thermo Scientific EGIS III to provide maximum security. Because of the reliability record, EGIS III systems are installed at smaller, remote airports where maximum uptime is the main concern. EGIS III systemsare designed to be repaired in the field if something happens, instead of returning the system back to the manufacturer.
