Thermo Scientific* HyClone Iron-Supplemented Bovine Calf Serum, U.S. Origin, is supplemented with iron to boost serum transferrin levels to physiological levels.

HyClone Iron-Supplemented Bovine Calf Serum, U.S. origin, is filtered using 100nm (0.1µm) pore-size filters and processed using "True Pool" processing technology to ensure consistency in the quality of serum. Iron-Supplemented Bovine Calf Serum is collected by venipuncture from formula-fed veal calves (16-22 weeks at time of collection), which produce exceptionally high levels of transferrin. We carefully supplement this serum with iron to load serum transferrin levels to physiological levels. After supplementation, our Iron-Supplemented Bovine Calf Serum contains three to four times as much available iron and transferrin as FBS or equine serum. Many researchers have found this product to be an excellent and cost-effective alternative to FBS. Growth promotion studies have demonstrated many applications for Iron-Supplemented Bovine Calf Serum and show how it often outperforms FBS in many applications.
