FAIMS Interface

Thermo Scientific* FAIMS interface works in combination with the H-ESI and APCI ion probes on Thermo Scientific triple stage quadrupole and ion trap MS systems to increase selectivity in challenging assays.
The Thermo Scientific high-Field Asymmetric Waveform Ion Mobility Spectrometry (FAIMS) interface reduces chemical noise and matrix interferences, resulting in improved assay robustness and increased assay sensitivity. FAIMS offers multiple degrees of separation, such as charge state, shape, conformation, and size. It further improves dynamic range and peak capacity, which are particularly beneficial to users in the proteomics and metabolism markets.

When used in combination with highly selective reaction monitoring (H-SRM) on Thermo Scientific triple quadrupole MS systems, unsurpassed selectivity and specificity are achieved. FAIMS technology is also available for multiple degrees of separation on industry-leading Thermo Scientific ion trap MS systems.

  • Reduces chemical noise and eliminates matrix interferences for a range of drug compounds in biological matrices
  • Located in the atmospheric pressure region between the ion source and the mass spectrometer
  • Increases selectivity, leading to improved assay robustness
  • Utilizes changes that occur in the behavior of an ion when subjected to alternating low and high electric fields to perform ion filtering, resulting in reduced chemical background and endogenous interferences
  • Temperature control of the interface ensures excellent day-to-day reproducibility
